Power of Attorney — UAE
The United Arab Emirates is now a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a UK apostille is generally accepted by UAE authorities without further legalisation. For documents that pre-date the Convention, or where a specific UAE authority still requires it, we can also arrange attestation by the UAE Embassy in London and MOFAIC attestation within the UAE.
Power of Attorney for use in UAE
Powers of Attorney usually need to be signed in the presence of a solicitor or notary and then apostilled before they can be used in the UAE. The exact wording, the witnessing requirements and whether embassy legalisation is also needed depend on the authority in the UAE receiving the document.

- Apostille legalisation through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)
- UAE Embassy attestation in London, where the receiving authority still requires it
- Coordination of the MOFAIC attestation step within the UAE, where applicable
Fees
Note: These fees would be in addition to the fees Embassies and Consulates charge for processing and legalising documents. Every Embassy has their own fee structure depending on whether documents are commercial or personal. The exact costs can be confirmed if required.
Since the Convention took effect for the UAE in 2024, an apostille is usually enough — but some UAE authorities and certain document types still request additional attestation, so it's worth confirming what the receiving authority needs before we begin.
