Requirements outside the destinations listed above depend on whether the receiving country is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. An apostille may be sufficient, while some countries also require legalisation through their embassy or consulate in London. The destination, document type and receiving authority should therefore be confirmed before the process begins.

Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates for use in Rest of the World

UK birth, marriage and death certificates must normally be original or certified copies issued by the relevant register office before they can be apostilled for use in the destination country. Photocopies are not usually accepted unless the authority in the destination country specifically allows a solicitor-certified copy.
